24-year-old man jailed for banning his 19-yr-old girlfriend from using social media

A 24-year-old man has been jailed for 'psychological abuse' over a controlling relationship
- According to reports, he bullied his 19-year-old girlfriend over how she used social media
- At some point, he even threatened to kill her family if she blocked him
Identified as Matthew Bailey, the 24-year-old might have just won himself the most possessive boyfriend of the year after he bagged himself a jail term for dictating and bullying his girlfriend over how he used social media.
Matthew who was an excessively jealous man banned his 19-year-old girlfriend, Molly Cunliffe, from using Snapchat, ordered her not to message heterosexual men on Facebook and Instagram, and even told her she was not allowed to put kisses at the end of social media posts.
Reports further show that he dictated that she keep only gay men as male friends. He was so possessive that he would regularly check her phone, tell her what to wear and demand for pictorial evidence to know what she was up to at any point in time.

During the relationship which lasted for four weeks, Miss Cunliffe was bombarded with calls from Matthew, demanding she ring him every day. He would then go on to falsely accused her of cheating on him whenever she did not answer.

She tried to end the relationship but Matthew threatened to kill her family. She eventually went to report to the police after she got 30 calls in just one morning from him.
In some of the phone conversations recorded, Matthew was overheard saying to her: "You'll get a car through your front window and I'll stab you in the neck. You know what I'm capable of. Do not block my number then go home and shag. Tell your mum and dad to sit upstairs, I'll drive a car through your gaff - take a picture to prove you're outside having a cig."

At the Manchester Magistrates' Court, Bailey was jailed for 6 months after he was found guilty of engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate relationship.
